It so easy to grab a can of a harsh chemical cleaner and start tidy our homes. We think nothing about what this would do to us, our children, our pets, our environment in whole.
To safe your environment, you can do just a little: you perform the environmentally safe cleaning.
Do you really want to breath in the vapour of the chemical cleaners? Have you consider what harm they would do to your skin when they come in contact with it?
Stop using ammonia for cleaning glass in your household. It is slowly killing you. Vinegar on the other hand is not only great for your salad dressing; it’s great for your windows as well.
There is not need for complicated chemical formulas in your kitchen or bathroom. Environmentally safe soap and water should be enough to do the job.
When using commercial cleaners, think about what other negative consequences on the environment could they do. Did you know that in order to improve abrasive qualities of the cleaner some companies are adding small plastic bits to their liquid soaps? Those tiny pieces are rinsed into the water supply and into the aquatic food chain. You are the end consumer of those plastic crumbs. Therefore, use a scrubbing brush or sponge. Protect yourself.
Stop worrying about germs in your household. Germs are part of your life and, unless you are really unwell, your immune system will guard you from them. Use an environmentally safe disinfectant in case you really need sanitize your home. But don’t give in into scare advertisement tactics.
Now, you can do your own bit to help the environment. It is not too late yet for the nature to recover from years of exploiting and devastating. More companies begin producing environmentally safe cleaning products; therefore you face greater choice in prices and quality. Those products work on dirt the same way, smell as nice as the chemicals but they don’t leave the destructive input on surroundings. So, what are you waiting for?
