If you are interested in woodworking, chances are great that will need to purchase a saw and good blades.
Jigsaw
These saws are in a category of their own. They can be utilized to make intricate and aesthetic patterns and shapes out of wood. Scroll saws or what some also call jigsaws are one of the “safest” saws and are pleasant to learn to use. You need to make sure you get the best jigsaw blades in order to get clear and safe cuts.
Band Saw
The band saw is one of the most-widely used tools in the woodworking shop. My preference is the Band saw versus the table saw, because it is more adaptable. One of the benefits of owning the Band Saw is that can cut really straight lines and really tightt curves. The disadvantage to this type of saw is the time it takes to prepare to use it. Because it can carry various blades for various purposes, this band saw and its blades requires additional time to set-up.
Table Saw
The table saw is a saw that you must have. This saw is what its name implies: a table with a built in saw, or a saw with a built in table dependent upon on how you view it. Table saws offer stability and accuracy, and they are able to do the majority of the cutting for your projects.
Miter Saw
No saw does angles better than a miter saw. This little powerhouse saw can speed up your work drastically. If you require a lot of boards all cut in the same manner, and you have to have them fast, then you should purchase a miter saw with a decent blade. These days, top-end miter saws have laser-targeting systems to assist with accuracy.
Radial Arm Saws
If you are a novice, you will do best to avoid this saw, because this is a serious cutting machine. The saw and motor hang from an overhead arm and is able to make 90-degree cuts and is able to be pulled across by hand. This is one of the more advanced saws, but I added to the list so that you would know they’re out there.
And remember, safety is priority, no matter which saw or jigsaw you end up using.
